Spring brings joy to everyone everywhere

Longer daylight hours, gentle southerly winds and the warmth of the sun herald the much-awaited return of spring to the shores, forests and meadows of Ruissalo. Snow, ice and frost will soon give way to the bursting new growth of the next growing season.

No matter where you look, frail, but determined green shoots sprout from the forest floor and trees open their buds into new leaves. Spring bloomers open their flowers to attract buzzing pollinators, snakes bask in the sun, frogs croak in ponds and birdsong fills the air everywhere. All creatures on Ruissalo now share the same goal: to grow and reproduce.
